Colonel David W. Sutherland, co-founder and chairman of the Easter Seals Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services, will present “The Inspiration of Courage; The Perspective of Reality.” It will feature a discussion on “the valor that he has seen on the battlefield and the specific challenges many of our veterans and their families face as they transition out of the military into the community.” He will also highlight “the mission of Easter Seals Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services and how our veterans are looking for people to connect with in the local community.”

Colonel Sutherland served over 29 years in the U.S. Army with his final tour as the Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff with principle focus on Warrior and Family Support.

Sutherland has earned a wide array of awards and decorations including the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Purple Heart, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman’s Badge Second Award, and Senior Parachutist Badge, among many others.

The event, sponsored by the University Program Council and University of Nebraska Student Veteran Organization, will be FREE for University of Nebraska–Lincoln students with a valid NCard and OPEN to the public.
