Dr. Stuart Embury and UNL art history professor Wendy Katz discuss art critic Sylvester Koehler’s efforts to define American art in a period, the Gilded Age, when most collectors preferred European painting. The talk features Koehler’s three books promoting American artists, which include elaborately produced original etchings.
