Having recently been involved in the Women’s Festival with over 250 local high school students, the University Chorale finishes out their semester with an eclectic set of pieces. Throughout the semester, the women have had the opportunity to sing in Spanish, Italian, Latin and Russian. This afternoon’s program will feature two 20th century composers, Maurice Durufle and Sergei Rachmaninoff, as well as two midwestern contemporary composers, Abbie Betinis and J. David Moore.

The Chamber Singers will perform a set of music by contemporary, living composers on the theme of “Connections.” The program includes music by Giselle Wyers, Dale Trumbore, and David von Kampen, among others, that explores the complexities of interpersonal human relationships. Chamber Singers is conducted by Steve Grives and Anne Gassman.

The Collegiate Choir will sing compositions inspired by a single word - “Alleluia.” The program will include music from the California Missions, a double choir motet by the great Renaissance composer, Jacob Handl and the world premiere of a new “Alleluia” by graduate student in composition, Marat Sanatullov.

The concert will close with the Varsity Men’s Chorus focusing on traditional works by of the male chorus repertoire by Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Brumel, to name only a few.
