When kids participate in cooking, they are more likely to explore a variety of food and learn basic math skills along the way. Campus Recreation’s Kid + Parent Cooking Classes provide an easy way to teach the whole family about cooking while making fun memories, and each class includes dinner for the evening.

Not only do children help with making the meal, they’ll learn the basics about nutrition and food groups, while having fun with a new activity for the family. The Wellness Kitchen instructors take care of all the prep and clean-up. Classes are open to the public.

Class size is limited and instructors can accommodate all special dietary needs. After registering, participants will be contacted about any special dietary needs. This class is recommended for children aged three years and older.

Tostada Pizza will give kids the power and energy they need for a busy day. This versatile recipe can easily be made with help from the kids. A yummy combination of pizza and taco, this recipe is made with whole-grain tostada shells, refried beans, shredded cheeses and a stack of colorful veggies.

Registration ends at noon the day prior to the event. Register at http://crec.unl.edu/cooking-classes-demonstrations or call Amanda at 402-472-0880.
