The Symphony Orchestra’s season opener will feature faculty member Karen Becker on cello. It will include Flyover Country by Tyler White, in honor of Nebraska’s sesquicentennial; Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major by Haydn and Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 43 by Sibelius.

Directed by Dr. Tyler White, the ensemble’s objectives are to prepare and present a wide variety of repertoire including chamber, symphonic, and operatic masterworks, and to maintain professional standards of musicianship and etiquette within a collegial and supportive educational atmosphere.

Cellist Karen Becker is an active soloist and avid chamber player who has performed throughout the United States as well as in Europe, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Becker is a faculty artist with the Red Lodge Music Festival in Montana, the Omaha Conservatory of Music Institute, and the Ameropa Chamber Music Festival in Praque (Czech Republic).
