Megan Elliott, director of the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, and Brendan Harkin, founder and director of X-Media Lab, are hosting a Nebraska Artificial Intelligence and Data-Driven Innovation meetup featuring Josh Ellis, customer engineer for Google Cloud Platform.

The event is 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at Fuse Coworking Space, 151 N. Eighth St., fifth floor, in Lincoln. The event is free and open to the public.

Ellis will present a talk, “Innovation for Tomorrow — But Where do You Start Today,” that will be followed by a collaborative discussion on how artificial intelligence, machine learning and public cloud platforms are transforming and enabling business.

Ellis is responsible for partnering with customers to identify and qualify both business and technical requirements while removing any technical impediments for the successful deployment and implementation of cloud solutions.

Early in his career, he managed the data center and led bioinformatics integration for Ohio State University’s mass spectrometry and proteomics facility. He co-founded the Ohio Collaborative Conference on Bioinformatics.

He then moved into the commercial space with EMC and Dell (now DellEMC), where he held positions in consulting, on premise and hybrid data center solutions design, and eventually became the sales engineering director for the Silicon Valley region in Northern California.

He received his degree from Ohio State University and now resides in Austin, Texas.

He will be joined at the event by Justin Lynch, an account executive for Google Cloud Platform.

Lynch is responsible for helping customers identify and qualify cloud technologies that would be suitable for their environment and meeting customers where they are in their “cloud journey.” Lynch will be available to visit with attendees at this event. He is solely focused on the Nebraska area and working with start-ups to enterprise companies on cloud adoption.
