Mario Callegaro, a Nebraska graduate with a doctorate in survey research and methodology, leads a talk about the relationship between big data and surveys.

The discussion, “Roles of Surveys in the Era of ‘Big Data,’” is 4 p.m. Nov. 20 in Howard L. Hawks Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Callegaro will discuss how the combination of big data and surveys work best to achieve research goals. He will also talk about privacy, confidentiality and data transfer, while also introducing the concept of rich data that focuses not on size but the substance and utilities of rich data.
