“The Parisian Cellist” features Chiara String Quartet cellist and UNL professor Gregory Beaver performing with pianist Noreen Polera. New York-based Polera is the most sought after pianist by the world’s great cellists, having played with Yo YoMa and won the Accompanying Prize at the Eighth International Tchaikovsky Competition. The program explores the diverse range of composers and musical styles that have found Paris at the center of their universe. Claude Debussy and Henri Dutilleux both lived in Paris for the bulk of their lives. Both Belgian composer Cesar Franck and American composer Robert Sirota studied in Paris, and Polish composer Frédéric Chopin lived in Paris for the majority of his life. Mr. Beaver and Ms. Polera will bring to lifethe most eccentric corners of the city as well as the sensuous beauty that permeates French music and culture. It will be a night of veiled romance and exotic musical flavors with something for everyone to enjoy.
