Dr. Leah M. Cook, PhD, assistant professor, Department of Pathology & Microbiology, assistant member, Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, University of Nebraska Medical Center, will present the seminar “Defining the Role of the Bone Stroma in Bone Metastatic Prostate Cancer.”
Dr. Cook’s research training has been largely focused on targeting breast and prostate tumor metastasis by understanding the role of cancer cells in the tissue microenvironment. Her lab is currently focusing on identifying the importance of neutrophils and/or granulocytic MDSCs in prostate cancer progression in bone and cancer-induced bone disease using a combination of transcriptome and proteomic profiling of patient samples and mouse in vivo models of bone metastasis.
