Women and other marginalized groups don’t always feel safe in the places others feel safe and it has everything to do with the other people and nothing to do with grizzly bears.

Based in Salmon, Idaho, Emerald LaFortune is a whitewater, wilderness and fly fishing guide. She is also the director of the Redside Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that supports the health and strength of Idaho’s guiding community. Drawing on a decade of experience, Emerald will explore tangible tips for creating conversation and change to make our rivers, trails, crags and slopes more welcoming for all.
