The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Guitar Ensemble presents a program of music that showcases a variety of styles performed in different settings that include solo, duo, quartet, and quintet. The quartet opens the program with an arrangement of the definitive standard “All the Things You Are” by Hammerstein II and Kern. This amiable tune leads into a solo performance by Kasten Phares of the graceful “Capricho arabe” by Spanish composer Francisco Tarrega. Pat Metheny’s solemn jazz waltz “Question and Answer” will be performed by a jazz duo before the quartet returns with an arrangement Michael Praetorius’ charming “Four French Dances.” Noah Gose will present an original, contemporary style piece titled “Don’t Exaggerate” that will lead into a duo performance of a jovial Renaissance piece. Steve Howe’s “Mood for A Day” presents an amalgamation of traditional guitar styles, which will be performed by Lee Lohrberg. A solo arrangement of the cheerful tune “When You Wish Upon A Star” by Harline and Washington performed by Ryan Martin precedes the quintet performing an aggressively groovy interpretation of “Chatlines Con Carne” by Kenny Burrell to close the concert.

Free and open to the public.
