School leaders around the country are trying to find solutions to critical issues that persist in their districts:

– Critical teacher shortages in urban and rural communities
– Lack of diversity in the teacher workforce
– Recruiting and retaining community responsive educators
– Preparing students to be college and workforce ready

Dr. Bianco, an award-winning expert on recruiting and retaining diverse teachers, will share insights gleaned from her decades of experience as a researcher, teacher, and former school leader. She developed Pathways2Teaching, a Grow Your Own diverse teacher program designed to encourage high school students in urban and rural communities to become teachers in and for their own communities. As a woman of color and a first generation college graduate, Bianco understands the obstacles that many students face. And, as a former classroom teacher and school leader, she understands the challenges of recruiting and retaining teachers of color.

Reception immediately following Dr. Bianco’s presentation.
