Roger D. Weiss, M.D., professor of psychiatry, Harvard Medical School; Chief, Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse, McLean Hospital, will present “Treatment of Patients with Substance Use Disorders and Dual Disorders.”

Alcohol and drug use disorders are among the most common clinical disorders causing significant clinical challenges. Patients with psychiatric illness and coexisting substance use disorders add to the difficulty. The goal of this two-day presentation is to apply new therapeutic approaches based on recent research findings for co-occurring disorders including new research findings for treatment of opioid use disorders, stimulant use disorders, specifically cocaine and methamphetamine. Clinical techniques to help engage patients who are not motivated for abstinence will also be emphasized.
