Dr. Vikas Kumar has extensive experience in the field of redox biology and proteomics. His research showed that there might be significant oxidative stress in cardiac mitochondria during ischemia that can be reversed with timely reperfusion. His work also suggested that metabolic syndrome leads to potentially deleterious changes in the oxidative modification of metabolically active proteins in mice fed with HFHS diet. He also developed a novel strategy to look at site occupancy in reversibly oxidized thiols using iodoTMT tags.
