A description of 15+ years of avian research on rangelands in the Nebraska Sandhills region with several collaborators. The presentation will cover lessons learned about habitats, demography, and management of rangelands for bird conservation. Powell will also relate the context of the Sandhills to bird conservation in the Great Plains as illustrated in his newly published book, Great Plains Birds, to be released in November 2019. Copies of the book will be for sale at the seminar.
