Individuals experiencing substance use disorders frequently also have a history of trauma. This course will focus on six key principles of a trauma-informed approach and trauma-specific interventions to help facilitate healing. The course will address the issues of safety, trustworthiness and transparency, collaboration, empowerment, peer support, and an understanding of historical and cultural gender issues, as well as current trauma-specific interventions.
