Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Associate Professor Ross Secord will present the January Nebraska Lecture, titled “Looking Back and Looking Forward: the History of Vertebrate Paleontology at the University of Nebraska State Museum.”
Secord will discuss how the museum’s collections were compiled, starting with museum director Erwin Barbour in the late 19th century and continuing to the present.
A reception will follow the lecture.
The event is the last of the Nebraska Lectures: Chancellor’s Distinguished Speaker Series, which was expanded in celebration of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s 150th anniversary. The year-long 12-talk series is supported by a $15,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities through Humanities Nebraska.
