DESCRIPTION:The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) has monitored the
  state’s prairie grouse populations since the 1950s using spring lek cou
 nts and wing-ratio data collected from hunters in the fall. While these in
 dices have been used to evaluate short-term trends in abundance and produc
 tion\, no one has used the data to assess long-term historical population 
 trends. Our research modeled spatial and temporal trends of greater prairi
 e-chicken and sharp-tailed grouse abundance and production in Nebraska usi
