Presented by Dr. Dara Wald, assistant professor of environmental communication, Iowa State University, Greenlee School of Journalism.
Within the past century, military action, development and the introduction of multiple invasive species have dramatically transformed the natural landscape and forests on the island of Guam. Changes to the forest, including the introduction of invasive species, have contributed to the dramatic loss of forest birds and the sterilization of palm trees, an iconic and culturally important species featured on the island’s flag.
