The panel members played an integral role in bringing the international, participatory art installation, Hostile Terrain 94 to Nebraska. The discussion will provide an overview of the exhibition and its themes and highlight the human rights dimensions of the crisis at the US border as well as the policies contributing to the crisis. They will also consider the ethics of representing violence/pain/suffering through physical remains and the material culture of migration as well as the role of quilts as a medium for political and social activism/advocacy.
