In this series of five sessions, the Center for Transformative Teaching will teach participants how to establish and manage an undergraduate teaching assistant program to support the needs of their course or program. Undergraduate teaching assistants, or called learning assistants, can provide enormous benefit to both students and instructors, while offering the assistants themselves a unique and highly valuable experience. This workshop series will begin with a basic overview of how these programs work, and why they can be extremely valuable, and then walk through many aspects of their implementation. The specific sessions are as follows:
Session #1: Developing a Learning Assistant Program: Overview and Benefits
Session #2: Administrative Considerations
Session #3: Finding the Right Roles for Your Learning Assistants
Session #4: Training Your Learning Assistants
Session #5: Lessons Learned
