Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and the Horticulture Club has the perfect gift to give plant lovers, or anyone, a summer of everlasting beauty.

For this year’s spring plant sale, the club will offer patio planters and hanging baskets with a few specialty items offered a la carte. The public can preorder plants and flowers online and pay at pickup. For convenience, all preorders will be scheduled for pick up on April 28 or 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Teaching Greenhouse West next to Plant Sciences Hall at 3850 Center Drive on East Campus.

“The club has created collections of planters and baskets with amazing color and durability,” club adviser Terri James said. “Simply choose the size and container type, and the club will do the rest.”

A pop-up parking lot sale will also take place April 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. by the Teaching Greenhouse West and preordering is not necessary. All sales will be on a first-come basis. The public must follow all COVID safety precautions and protocols.

Horticulture Club is a University of Nebraska Recognized Student Organization. The club connects students interested in growing and caring for plants, interested in a career in horticulture and who wish to engage with industry professionals.

Plant sales are periodically held throughout the year to fund programming activities, student travel and facility improvements. Sales were suspended for Spring 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but were reintroduced in December 2020 as virtual sales events until in-person events can take place.
