Slichter is a native of Champaign, IL and holds a degree in Afro-American Studies and History from Harvard. He is the drummer for the rock band Semisonic (1998 #1 Hit “Closing Time”) and author of the memoir So You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star (2004), featured on NPR’s Morning Edition. Slichter is also a Creative Non-Fiction Instructor at Sarah Lawrence College in NY.
