Taylor Livingston,
“During the summer of 2021 I worked as a curation management intern at the McClure Archives and University Museum at the University of Central Missouri. I didn’t plan on completing an internship in the museum field, in fact my original goal was to gain more experience with an applied archaeology organization. However, like many students in the country Covid-19 changed my plans. Fortunately, I found an opportunity in my hometown where I learned about the curation of artifacts and the NAGPRA process. During the internship I gained experience accessioning artifacts, working in the museum database, designing an exhibit, and rehousing ancestral remains in preparation for repatriation. Although it wasn’t what I had planned, this unexpected internship ultimately led to a job offer! I now work as the museum’s NAGPRA coordinator while finishing my master’s degree at UNL.”
