Area beef producers should make plans to attend the annual Three-State Beef Conference that is scheduled for January 11, 12 and 13, 2022 with locations in Iowa, Missouri, and Nebraska. The Three-State Beef Conference is designed to give beef cattle producers and others in the beef industry in Iowa, Missouri, and Nebraska a regular update on current sire, cow-calf, and economic topics. All sessions will be held during the evening to help accommodate producers who work off the farm during the day.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Long-term planning for the cow herd”. Topics and speakers for the conference are as follows: “Bull development and nutrition; fertility and beyond”, Dr. Carl Dahlen, associate professor and reproductive physiologist, North Dakota State University; “Marketing, markets, and risk: tips for beef cow-calf producers”, Dr. Elliott Dennis, assistant professor of livestock marketing and risk management, University of Nebraska-Lincoln; “Do your cows fit your environment?”, Dr. Kacie McCarthy, beef cow-calf specialist, University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

The first session of the conference will be held in Greenfield, Iowa at the Warren Cultural Center on Tuesday, January 11. The Missouri session will be held on Wednesday, January 12 in Stanberry, Missouri at the Stanberry Community Center. On Thursday, January 13, the session will be held at the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center near Mead. Registration for all three locations will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6:00 p.m.

We request that attendees pre-register by Friday, January 7, 2022. Calling or e-mailing with your reservation helps with meal plans and also helps keep costs down. Iowa producers should contact the Adair County Extension office at 641-743-8412 to register. Missouri producers should contact the Gentry County Extension Office at 660-726-5610, and Nebraska producers should contact the Saunders County Extension Office at 402-624-8030 to register. The registration fee is $25 per person, and it includes a meal and copy of the conference proceedings. For those unable to attend in person, a recording will be available for later viewing for a fee of $5. Please contact us if you are interested in that option.

If you need accommodations because of a disability, have emergency medical information to share, have dietary restrictions, or need special arrangements in case the building must be evacuated, please inform us as soon as possible.
