Join us as Jim Young is recognized with a Quilt of Valor for his volunteer work at Nebraska Innovation Studio. Jim Young served as a Navy corpsman during the Vietnam war, transporting wounded sailors back to the San Diego Naval Hospital. After the war, he worked as a shop teacher and volunteered to teach hospitalized veterans how to turn pens on the lathe. When he moved to Lincoln, NE, to be close to his son and his grandchildren, Jim proposed starting a veterans program at Nebraska Innovation Studio. Since November 2017, Jim has taught pen turning to hundreds of veterans participating in the VA’s Veterans in Recovery and Whole Health programs. For many, working with Jim at Nebraska Innovation Studio has been life-changing. This event is free and open to the public.
