Anti-racist teaching acknowledges that student learning is impacted by dynamics that exist between the student and their instructors, family members, the university, and the broader community. This workshop will consider the various power dynamics encountered both inside and outside the classroom context, how those impact student learning, and strategies for disrupting those power systems in the classroom. We will also discuss specific, evidence-based, inclusive teaching strategies that instructors can utilize to foster an educational environment that is equal parts supportive and challenging for all students.
