COE DEI Lunch & Learn: Kathy Kleiman

Date:
Time:
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
City and Scott Campuses
We are delighted to announce our upcoming COE DEI Lunch & Learn session on Friday March 24th, featuring Kathy Kleiman, Senior Fellow at American University.

On March 23rd, Ms. Kleiman will host a workshop to discuss her new book Proving Ground: The Untold Story of the Six Women Who Programmed the World’s First Modern Computer. I have attached a flyer about that. The book is based on her extensive research and interviews with the six Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC) Programmers. These women programmed ENIAC, the world’s first general-purpose, programmable, all-electronic computer, as part of a secret US Army project during and after WWII.

During our DEI Lunch & Learn session on March 24th, Ms. Kleiman will be hosting a screening of the accompanying documentary of the book. As a champion for women in STEM and CS, and with almost 25 years of experience working with Internet governance issues for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), Ms. Kleiman’s insights are sure to be informative and engaging.

The session will be held as a hybrid event, connecting City Campus and Scott Campus, as well as via zoom. Please RSVP at your earliest convenience and note that the first 20 people to register will receive a complimentary box lunch. Even if you register late, you are still welcome to join us, either in person with your own lunch, or via zoom. We hope to see many of you at this exciting event.
