The School of Art, Art History & Design welcomes Robb Hernández for a Hixson-Lied Visiting Scholar Lecture at 5:30 p.m. on April 5 in Richards Hall 15.
Robb Hernández is Associate Professor of English at Fordham University. He is the author of Archiving an Epidemic: Art, AIDS, and the Queer Chicanx Avant-Garde (NYU Press, 2019). His articles have appeared in American Art Journal, Aztlán, Journal of Visual Culture, Radical History Review, and TSQ, among others. In 2017, he co-curated Mundos Alternos: Art and Science Fiction in the Americas in conjunction with the Getty Foundation’s Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA initiative. He is a recipient of a senior fellowship at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and an Arts Writers Grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation and Creative Capital.
Underwritten by the Hixson-Lied Endowment with additional support from other sources, the series enriches the culture of the state by providing a way for Nebraskans to interact with luminaries in the fields of art, art history and design. Each visiting artist or scholar spends one to three days on campus to meet with classes, participate in critiques and give demonstrations.
For more information on the series, contact the School of Art, Art History & Design at (402) 472-5522 or e-mail schoolaahd@unl.edu.
