The clothing and textile industry faces many challenges as it works towards reducing its impact on the environment. This presentation will provide information regarding current levels of textile waste and recycling efforts in Nebraska including the role of thrift stores. Innovative approaches being developed at UNL in the area of fiber science will be featured. The entrepreneurial and innovative efforts of UNL alums in Nebraska and across the globe to upcycle, recycle, and repurpose clothing and textiles will be explored.
