 ibit highlights how prevailing ideas about women and competition\, adminis
 tration of women’s athletics\, and funding decisions shaped opportunitie

  an Inclusive Leader. A 2020 Inspire Leadership Excellence in Education aw
 ard recipient and a 2021 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Fulfilling the Dre
 am award recipient\, Dr. Fagan thrives in developing the potential in lead
 ers to create positive impact. Since 2018\, Fagan has been a faculty membe
 r and program lead for the Inclusive Rural Fellowship program at Universit
 y of Nebraska-Lincoln. In addition to a Ph.D. in Human Sciences with speci
 alization in Leadership from University of Nebraska-Lincoln\, Dr. Fagan ho
 lds multiple certifications in Diversity\, Emotional Intelligence\, and is
  a trained Executive Coach. Also\, she is a Qualified Administrator of the
  Intercultural Development Inventory which she has used with developing th
 ousands of leaders and healthcare providers. From 2014-2019\, Dr. Fagan wa
 s invited as a faculty with the Qatar Institute for Intercultural Communic
 ation providing workshops for faculty\, staff and graduate students workin
 g at 6 US universities in Education City in Qatar. Dr. Fagan’s expertise
  in developing inclusive leaders\, organizations and communities has enabl
 ed her to speak is multiple nations and at last count 4 continents. Her bo
 ok\, Becoming Inclusive\: A Worthy Pursuit in Leadership released in 2021 
 via Information Age Publishing\, has gained popularity and provided a road
  map for leaders endeavoring to become inclusive. Before Academia\, she cr
 eated and led the Diversity and Cultural Competence Initiatives at Bryan H
 ealth\, in Lincoln NE. This initiative at Bryan was considered so innovati
 ve that it gained national recognition and was featured in a Joint Commiss
 ion (hospital accreditation body) publication. During that time\, Helen pl
 ayed a key role in the recruitment and resettlement of nurses from the Phi
 lippines to address the nursing shortage in Nebraska. Helen also worked di
 ligently to address employment and healthcare needs of refugees and immigr
 ants\; and was a strong voice for eliminating the use of children as medic
 al interpreters in healthcare settings. As an international student from I
 ran\, who arrived as an unaccompanied minor to the United States at age 15
 \, Dr. Fagan has experienced a tremendous number of challenges during her 
 life in the United States. She has used each of those challenges to inspir
 e others\, especially women\, and as a result has received numerous awards
  for her contributions to the lives of others\, including a key to the cit
 y of Lincoln. In 2018\, Dr. Fagan served as a Consulting Producer on a sho
 rt film\, The Healing of Harman. She consulted on the film during the writ
 ing\, the filming\, and editing processes. The film was directed by the Ac
 ademy Award nominated Director\, Seth Pinkster. This film has been used to
  create discussion with community leaders in relation to the process that 
 communities can use to foster a spirit of inclusion in which people are we
 lcomed and embraced in their healing. The film won Morehouse College’s b
 est Human Rights Short film in 2020.

 . This program brings together experts from the University of Medical Cent
 er College of Public Health\, the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Insti
 tute of Agriculture and Natural Resources\, and Daugherty Water for Food G
 lobal Institute at the University of Nebraska to address Nebraska’s most
  pressing public health issues related to water and climate. This program 
 has foundational commitments that are focused on research\, education\, en
 gagement\, and policy to address these issues. \n\nSpeaker's Bio\: \nDr. J
 esse E. Bell is the Claire M. Hubbard Professor of Water\, Climate\, and H
 ealth in the Department of Environmental\, Agricultural\, and Occupational
  Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the School of Nat
 ural Resources within the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources a
 t the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is the director of the Water\, Cl
 imate and Health Program at UNMC and the director of Water\, Climate and H
 ealth at the University of Nebraska’s Daugherty Water for Food Global In
 stitute. The mission of these programs is to develop interdisciplinary res
 earch\, education and collaborative solutions to public health challenges 
 associated with environmental issues in Nebraska and around the world. As 
 the founding director\, he has helped grow these programs to over 25 facul
 ty\, staff\, and students. His expertise and research are focused on under
 standing how human and natural processes are connected to changes in the e
 nvironment and climate. Before coming to UNMC\, Dr. Bell developed and ser
 ved in an interagency position between the National Oceanic and Atmospheri
 c Administration (NOAA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  (CDC). During his time in this role\, his work built the foundation for n
 ovel and innovative approaches to use climate data to assist with health r
 esearch. He was able to unite each organization's efforts toward better un
 derstanding the impact of climate change on health. He has authored more t
 han 70 scientific articles and technical reports\, including serving as a 
 lead author for the U.S. Global Change Research Program report “The Impa
 cts of Climate Change on Human Health in the United States\: A Scientific 
 Assessment” that was released by the White House in 2016.
