Cedar trees are rapidly spreading across Nebraska’s grasslands, threatening valuable forage for grazing animals and
habitat for wildlife. In some areas, grass production has dropped by as much as 75% over the past three decades due to cedar tree encroachment. Rhe best time to control your cedar trees is now!
Workshops may cover the following:
- Project Spotlights: Real-life examples with before/after photos, costs, and cost-share info
- Pasture Management: How producers keep pastures cedar-free to maximize grass
- Cedar Biology: Understand how cedars grow/spread to choose the right control methods
- Prescribed Burning Tips: Keep your burn contained with guidance on slope, tree height, piles, weather, crew and equipment
There is no cost to attend. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is appreciated at the following local extension offices:
- Mullen or Hyannis, 308-645-2267.
- O’Neill, 402-336-2760.
