Inclusion and building inclusive excellence has become an important goal in higher education. But, do we really know what is required to create and sustain a truly inclusive environment among our students, colleagues, and others with whom we interact regularly? Gina will discuss this topic as well as some ideas and suggestions for creating truly inclusive spaces. She asks that you please bring your ideas and best practices to share.

Dr. Matkin is a professor in Agricultural Leadership, Education & Communication and the ALEC Undergraduate Leadership Program Coordinator. The overall purpose of Dr. Matkin’s research is to develop culturally competent and inclusive leaders. Her work’s focus whether in teaching, research, or service is to help create socially just and inclusive environments where we work and live. Much of Dr. Matkin’s research has been in collaboration with doctoral students and colleagues on projects related to diversity and inclusion. Her work is primarily through a qualitative lens.
