In the light of increasing concerns about COVID-19 in our community, the Center for Great Plains Studies has decided to cancel this lecture scheduled forMarch 12. We will be looking at the possibility of rescheduling in the future. Our public events and programming are very important to us, but we want to take precautions as these lectures usually attract a large audience.

From extreme temperature swings and monster hail to tornadoes and floods, Ken Dewey, UNL regional climatologist and author of “Great Plains Weather,” will describe some of the Great Plains’ strangest and most extreme weather.

Dewey is a geography professor in the College of Arts and Sciences at UNL. His main research and outreach interests are in severe storm climatology, climate variations, snow and ice studies, and drought impacts. His primary outreach activity is to bring information on severe weather and related safety tips to the public, in order to help them survive storms.

All events are free and open to the public.
Parking is usually available in the Que Place garage (entrance at 11th and Q streets). Please note there is construction in the area.
