The use of biotrickling filters (BTFs) to control VOC laden air emissions at ethanol plants can reduce water and energy requirements. Acetaldehyde, a typical pollutant, was found to be effectively removed at both ambient and elevated temperatures. Results indicate that BTFs are a promising option for ethanol producer.
