When developing and teaching courses, it can feel like the only resources available are intuition and personal experience. In reality, there is a large body of research dedicated to the scholarly investigation of best practices for teaching.

This workshop is designed as an introduction to the field of pedagogical research and is open to all instructors looking to improve teaching methods. Whether an informal investigation that is only intended to shape your course, conducting a formal research project intended for publication, or just learning more about a specific field.

During this 90-minute, hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to develop research questions about pedagogy, discuss potential methods to answer questions, give examples of where to find funding, and how to publish projects. Participants who attend in person are encouraged to bring a laptop or notebook to work through parts of the brainstorming process.

Participants may attend this workshop in person or via Zoom.
