The first of the tailgate series that will afford attendees a first look at the new University of Nebraska Viticulture Program’s High Tunnel Table Grape project. This project examines the potential for Nebraska growers to commercially produce table grapes under the protection of a high tunnel. Because the test grapes are in their third growing season, people attending will be able to get a good look at how these cultivars perform in terms of fruit set, cluster and berry characteristics, vigor and disease tolerance.
Attendees will also be able to visit our long-standing nearby wine grape experimental vineyard in which over 30 cultivars and breeder selections are being tested. University of Nebraska Viticulture Program personnel will be on hand to answer questions and provide insights into both the high tunnel table grape project and the ongoing wine grape research projects.
Free to anyone interested in growing grapes commercially or in a home garden setting.
