 arakalpakstan in northwestern Uzbekistan was once a thriving area supporte
 d by extensive irrigation within the Aral Sea basin. It now suffers from e
 xtensive droughts\, upstream diversions from the Amu and Syr Darya rivers 
 for irrigation\, as well as severely impacted water quality.\n\nThrough th
 is project and webinar series\, we will examine the potential for water an
 d land reclamation\, explore innovative models and tools for ground- and s
 urface-water resources management\, examine water quality monitoring and r
 euse\, uses for remote sensing in irrigated agriculture\, compare water re
 sources programs to help establish long-term scholar exchanges in this reg
