The Nebraska Lecture scheduled for April 14 will feature Raymond Hames, professor of anthropology in the School of Global Integrative Studies. The lecture will be provided during Student Research Days, virtually at 3:30, followed by a live Q&A moderated by Chancellor Ronnie Green. Registration is required to receive a link.

Hames will present his talk “The Truth about Hunter-Gatherers”, which is informed by his extensive research focused on native peoples of the Venezuelan Amazon, with funding from the National Science Foundation, the Leakey Foundation and the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation. His research interests are behavioral ecology, food and labor exchange, human ecology, marriage, parental investment and Amazonia.

Hames is past president of the Evolutionary Anthropology Society of the American Anthropological Association and a consulting editor for Human Nature. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in the spring of 2020.

The Nebraska Lectures: Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture Series features presentations by distinguished university faculty. In collaboration with the Office of Research and Economic Development, the Research Council established this lecture series in 2003.
