SUMMARY:NuRamp OSP Module Trainings
STATUS:CONFIRMED
DESCRIPTION:The Office of Sponsored Programs will transition its research a
dministration module from NUgrant to NuRamp effective July 31. Training se
ssions are scheduled in July.\n\nNuRamp is used by all campuses in the Uni
versity of Nebraska system\, allowing for greater collaboration and effici
ency as faculty and staff throughout NU work together on grant submissions
\, award tracking and other functions.\n\nUsers will log into NuRamp using
their True You credentials. Interfaces will function similarly to current
NUgrant interfaces\, with an updated look to enhance the user experience.
The proposal routing process remains the same.\n\nTraining sessions will
 be held 3-4\:30 p.m. July 13\, 10-11\:30 a.m. July 18\, 1-2\:30 p.m. July
 19\, 9-10\:30 a.m. July 24 and 10-11\:30 a.m. July 27. All sessions will b
e in Room 152 of the Prem S. Paul Research Center at Whittier School.\n\nT
raining sessions will be hybrid\, both in person and via Zoom. They will b
e recorded and made available online. Registration is encouraged for those
attending in person and required for those attending via Zoom to obtain t

SUMMARY:"Signal Classification Based on Analog Computing Using MEMS Network
 "
STATUS:CONFIRMED
DESCRIPTION:Under the supervision of Dr. Fadi Alsaleem\n\nThe rising comple
xity of machine learning algorithms and Artificial Intelligence in many ap
plications\, such as smart building\, has prompted the development of alte
rnate computing options. Because of their compact size\, low power consump
tion\, and diverse functionality\, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) h
ave emerged as a possible candidate. This thesis focuses on using MEMS net
works as computing units to classify a simple signal classification task u
sing neural network methodology. The study intends to show the potential o
f using MEMS as an analog computing unit by discussing the advantage of th
e bi-stability pull-in behavior and hysteresis to create an accurate class
ifier of these waveforms. Modeling and simulation are being conducted to a
ssess the MEMS-based computer units performance. The results reveal that t
he proposed methodology performs the required classification without requi
ring a digital computer. Furthermore\, This study adds to the field of ana
log computing with MEMS by providing insights into the feasibility and pot
ential of using MEMS networks for more complex classification tasks such a
s those related to smart building applications.
