SUMMARY:Shooting the Night Sky\, An Art Exhibition
STATUS:CONFIRMED
DESCRIPTION:“Shooting the Night Sky” is an art exhibit by Brad Severa f
eaturing astrophotography images captured in Nebraska over the years. Most
of the images were processed at Nebraska Innovation Studio using the late
st stacking software\, as well as\, printed\, matted\, and framed using th
e tools available at the makerspace.\n\nBrad developed a love for astronom
y under the clear and light pollution-free skies on the farm he grew up on
in northeast Nebraska. He started shooting the sky in high school with a
SLR film camera and a tripod. After a 20-year hiatus\, the global pandemic
offered the perfect opportunity for him to jump back into this hobby. Bra
d reentered the world of astrophotography that now offered advanced equipm
ent and technology. He transitioned from an SLR film camera and tripod to
a digital camera and a type of lens specifically designed for astrophotogr
aphy. He uses a telescope mount that can track the sky to take the long ex
posures needed to obtain these stunning images of the night sky. \n\nBrad
Severa is an Information Technology Services employee at the University of
Nebraska–Lincoln and a member of Nebraska Innovation Studio.\n\nThis ex
hibit is free and open to the public daily from 8\:00 a.m. – 8\:00 p.m.
