Connect with your classmates and college while celebrating the start of the school year.
This two-part event will begin with a freshmen welcome at 2:30 pm in the Heritage Room in the City Union. After a brief greeting, you will team up into groups led by faculty and staff. With your groups, you will explore campus and get to know your new friends as you walk from the City Union to Nebraska Hall, where our college is located (10-minute, 0.5-mile walk). Once at Nebraska Hall, you will get a tour of the classrooms, advising office, and study areas.
Part two is a street fair open to all students from 3:30 – 5:00 pm outside of Nebraska Hall, below the Scott Engineering Link (between Nebraska Hall and Scott Engineering Center). Have fun playing yard games including ladder ball, corn hole, giant Jenga, toss across tic-tac-toe, giant Yahtzee, and bucket ball while jamming to music. Take a break to pose for a photo at the photo booth and enjoy a snack. There will be popcorn, popsicles, and water. Learn about opportunities within the College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) as you interact with representatives from various units in our college (School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Department of Gerontology, Juvenile Justice Institute, Social Work, Aviation, and Public Administration).
