Chick Days

Chick Days is an annual educational event for small and back-yard poultry producers and youth to learn more about the poultry industry. The event is open to both youth (Ages 7-18) and adults (ages 19 and up).

The 2025 Chick Days event will feature speakers on the following topics:

Waterfowl Management—Cole Meador, Assistant Extension Educator, Saunders County
Essentials of Composting for Small Flock Poultry Waste Management—Ashley Bigge, Extension Educator, Penn State University
Breeding for Show and Showing in Open Classes—Brett Kreifels, Extension Educator, Douglas-Sarpy Counties
Preparing and Delivering Knock-Out Reasons—Sarah Vos, University of Nebraska Horse Judging Team coach/Graduate Student

There will also be competitions in: Poultry Quiz Bowl (Youth and Adult/Youth Mixed Divisions), Egg Art (Adult and Youth Divisions), Poultry Photography (Adult and Youth Divisions).
