Join us for a thought-provoking discussion with Elton McEachin and Professor Brian Lepard about Elton’s remarkable life and journey through the prison system. As a child Elton witnessed the brutal murder of his mother and then fell onto the wrong path. He robbed a bank at age 25, using a BB gun for fear of harming someone. He was convicted and sentenced to 54 years in prison in Virginia, a state that has abolished parole for felony crimes. Elton’s only way out was through a governmental pardon, which he received after spending 22 years behind bars and with the help of UNL Law Professor Lepard.
