Messaging and structure in scientific manuscripts:
Participants will learn the principles of distilling your scientific message and broadly structuring a manuscript. We will cover key principles of scientific writing, tools and resources available to help you write your manuscript, and participants will also practice writing an abstract and outline for their manuscript. The writing structure that will be presented during the workshop is also applicable to writing poster text.

Evaluating and editing scientific manuscripts:
Participants will learn the principles of evaluating published articles for writing quality, not just for the quality of the science. We will cover key principles of scientific writing and evaluate already-written work in light of these principles. Students who have not written their own manuscripts will practice using published articles, and participants who have already written some or all of their own manuscripts will practice using their own articles. Participants are also encouraged to share their work with others during the workshop to receive external evaluation from peers.
