Cooking with Communities is a cultural food demonstration that aims to educate participants about how food is an integral part of our cultural communities. During this session, Chef Charles Brewer, Sturfast Carribbean & African Grill, will explain the significance of the food he’s cooking, while discussing his journey to owning a business in Lincoln, NE. Assistant Professor of Practice Sabine Zempleni of Nutrition and Health Sciences will also lead a discussion around food insecurities and marginalized populations.
Recipes will include:
Jerk chicken with sauce
Jollof rice (an African version of jambalaya)
Pineapple mango coleslaw
