YWCA of Lincoln and Planned Parenthood of the Heartland are partnering to host an important dialogue on gender, racial justice, criminal justice reform and health care access during incarceration and upon reentry. This power-packed workshop features expert panelists and facilitators who will equip participants with new tools for advocacy and self-reflection.

• Keynote speaker – Roschelle Winston, professor of criminal justice at Lane College in Jackson, Tenn., will give a talk on hardships, barriers and inequities women incarcerated face, and how are these issues are impacted by race.

• Implicit Bias Dialogue – Marilyn Johnson-Farr, professor of education at Doane University, will lead participants through an activity to map their privilege and identify implicit biases.

• Break Out Sessions – Participants will choose from a selection of roundtable discussion groups on a range of issues facing women who are incarcerated and how women of color are more specifically impacted.

• Storytelling Training – The workshop will close with a session on the power of advocating through personal storytelling and how to empower women who have experienced intersections of oppression and the criminal justice system to tell their own stories.
