Despite setbacks, after the end of World War II, the world has progressed. Wars between major powers ended, tolerance for minorities and women’s rights increased in places, and international political and scientific cooperation led to reductions in poverty, hunger, and infant mortality. But the setbacks include continuing terrorism, the resurgence of narrow nationalism, and the political and economic instability that has led to unprecedented numbers of refugees. This symposium will present scholars and policy makers to address the world’s prospects for peace and prosperity.
