Drawing on case studies, this presentation will address the variety of ways in which indigenous people have responded to the Sustainable Development Goals and promoted human rights and well being in the face of environmental and political challenges.

Presentation by Professor Robert K. Hitchcock, Anthropology, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM.

Bob Hitchcock was a Professor of Anthropology at UNL from 1983 until 2006, during which time he published studies in the fields of Cultural Anthropology and International Development, with a focus on the rights and practices of indigenous peoples in Africa and elsewhere and became an advisor and consultant to international agencies, banks, and NGO’s, and to national programs in developing nations.

He has continued this active program of research and hands-on work around the world with appointments at both the University of New Mexico and Michigan State University and on the Boards of scholarly and Developmental entities.
