Public Health Surveillance, the ongoing and organized collection of data surrounding population health, is essential in measuring how health crises vary in impact across time, communities, and location. Jesse Yedinak, Maxwell Krieger, and their partners at Prevent Overdose Rhode Island have created publicly-accessible tools that visualize and contextualize key indicators of the opioid crisis in their state. These tools are an essential aid in developing effective local interventions to reduce the harms of the opioid crisis.
